3/3/99 - Product information: AS-Interface/Ethernet Gateway
Bihl+Wiedemann has come the goal offering a complete range of gateways from AS-Interface to high level fieldbusses 1 step closer. Beside gateways to PROFIBUS, Modbus, DeviceNet,CAnopen, etc. there is a new gateway from AS-Interface to Ethernet TCP/IP.
The gateway connects Ethernet TCP/IP and AS-Interface to optimize total solutions in the field and actuator/sensor areas. The device acts as a double master with PLC function for the AS-Interface. All AS-Interface functions can be called via Ethernet TCP/IP. Modbus is used as „Fieldbus Application Layer" for Ethernet TCP/IP. While ethernet spans large distances the AS-Interface scans data from sensors and actuators at the lowest network level in a distributed manner. The gateway ensures that data is transfered at a high speed to the control system via Ethernet TCP/IP.
