Jochen Bihl explains how easy it is to integrate the ASi safety technology with safe Siemens or Rockwell drives. He introduces two new ASi Safety gateways for this: The model BWU3683 speaks CIP Safety over EtherNet/IP , and the BWU3367 runs PROFIsafe over PROFINET . Both gateways exchange both standard I/Os as well as safe I/Os with the respective safety controller from Siemens or Rockwell. In addition, the gateways feature the Safe Link technology from Bihl+Wiedemann. Safe Link means that the safety monitors safely communicate data even without a safety controller.
