What is CANopen?

CANopen is an open fieldbus standard based on CAN which is used mainly in automation technology. CANopen enables communication between devices made by different manufacturers without any special interface adaptations.

CANopen ASi Gateways

CANopen AS-i 3.0 gateways in stainless steel provide an interface for a CANopen fieldbus. These AS-i gateways are available in various versions with IP20 protection rating.

"IP40":

Protected against solid foreign bodies having a diameter of 1.0 mm or larger, protected against access with a wire, no protection against water.

Protection against dust in damaging amounts, complete protection against contact, protection against splashing water in any angle.


"IP65":
Dust-tight, full protection against contact, protection against spray water (jet) from any angle.

Diagnostic and configuration interface

Detects whether the same address has been assigned to two ASi slaves. Frequent error when using a handheld addressing device.

Recognition of duplicate ASi addresses

Checks the ASi line for interference effects such as noise, external voltages, ...

ASi fault detector

Using a C-program offers the possibility to run mini-PLC functions with a gateway.

CANopen Master Simulator

The CANopen Master Simulator is a simple, universal tool for exchanging data with CANopen slaves from virtually any manufacturer without a CANopen master, by just using a PC and the delivered hardware. Input data can be read and output data written without any additional entries or files.

 

In addition, the CANopen Master Simulator can be used of course to read and write special objects. It is also possible to search a complete CANopen line for any connected slaves. The digital I/O data are represented in hex and binary as well as ASCII characters. Analog I/O data are represented in decimal. Output data can be sent consistently.

 

Included with the CANopen Master Simulator package is the CAN dongle. The CAN dongle is the ideal interface converter between the USB port on the PC and CANopen. The dongle is very compact and is powered by the USB port on the PC. This also makes it ideal for portable use with a laptop or notebook.
