What is PROFIsafe?

PROFIsafe is a safety profile for transmitting safety-critical data over PROFINET or PROFIBUS. PROFIsafe meets the highest safety requirements of SIL3, thereby enabling safe communication in the process and manufacturing sectors.

Products

AS-i 3.0 Gateways PROFIsafe over PROFINET or PROFIsafe over PROFIBUS provide an interface for a PROFIBUS or PROFINET fieldbus. These AS-i gateways are available in various versions with IP20 protection rating.

Protected against solid foreign bodies having a diameter of 12.5 mm or larger and against finger contact, not protected against water.


"IP40":

Protected against solid foreign bodies having a diameter of 1.0 mm or larger, protected against access with a wire, no protection against water.

"IP54":

Protection against dust in damaging amounts, complete protection against contact, protection against splashing water in any angle.


"IP65":
Dust-tight, full protection against contact, protection against spray water (jet) from any angle.

"IP67":

Dust-tight, full protection against contact, protection against temporary immersion.

1 AS-i power supply per AS-i network. Gateway is powered in normal operation from one of the two AS-i power supplies.

Should one AS-i power supply fail, switching to the other AS-i power supply allows all the diagnostics functions to be maintained and the unaffected AS-i network continues to operate.

The latest version of the device description file of the gateway/gateway with integrated safety monitor (GSD, GSDML, EDS, etc.) is available in the "Downloads" section of the respective device.

Diagnostic and configuration interface

Detects whether the same address has been assigned to two AS-i slaves. Frequent error when using a handheld addressing device.

Recognition of duplicate AS-i addresses

Checks the AS-i line for interference effects such as noise, external voltages, ...

AS-i fault detector

Using a C-program offers the possibility to run mini-PLC functions with a gateway.

Programming in C

An externally connected relay (contactor) can be connected via a feedback loop to the Safety Monitor for monitoring purposes.
